The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé is a mid-size luxury SUV that prioritises style and sportiness over outright practicality. It has been on sale in the UK since 2016, so there are plenty of used examples available to buy.
Based on the superbly executed GLC SUV, the Coupé shares that car's powertrains with the 'GLC 220 d' being the most popular engine choice. That means you get a 2.1-litre diesel engine on pre-2019 cars, while recent versions are fitted with a more powerful 191bhp 2.0-litre engine. 242bhp GLC 300 d variants are also available, as are high performance GLC 43 and GLC 63 S AMG models.
Up front the interior is largely identical to the SUV version. In the back, while leg room remains decent, headroom is compromised by the sloping roof line. The boot is smaller too, although at 470 litres is still fairly large.
Running costs are in-line with other luxury SUV-coupé rivals like the BMW X4. Fuel economy is not too bad at 35-45mpg (depending on engine) but tyres and brakes will be more expensive than other brands. Servicing costs can be kept down by utilising Stratstone Mercedes-Benz for specialist care.
