The Mercedes-AMG A-Class is a high performance hot hatchback that combines everyday usability with blistering acceleration. Based on the fourth-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class that has been on sale in the UK since 2018, the AMG variant looks more aggressive and drives in a completely different way.
There are two main examples of AMG A-Class you'll find on the used market both of which use 2.0-litre turbo 4-cylinder engines with automatic gearboxes, and come standard with all-wheel drive:
- A 35 4MATIC: 302bhp - 0 to 62mph in 4.7s
- A 45 S 4MATIC+ Plus: 415bhp - 0 to 62mph in 3.9s
In its most basic form, the A 35 is a very understated car with only subtle hints as to the car's potential. Used examples with the Premium Plus Package will have AMG aerodynamic upgrades including a rear wing, which makes the car stand out (a lot) further. A 45 S Plus models will have this package fitted as standard, along with a more aggressive front grille.
When you're not pushing hard, fuel economy of 30-35mpg is possible, which is reasonable considering the level of performance on offer. Servicing and maintenance need to be kept on top of, and Stratstone Mercedes-Benz can help with this.
