The only variant for the generation pictured here is the ‘53’, where under the bonnet you will find a 3.0-litre bi-turbo straight-six petrol engine that develops 435hp and torque of 383lb ft.
It is augmented by an electric auxiliary compressor for instant boost and faster throttle response. The EQ Boost starter-alternator adds a 22bhp and 184lb ft of torque and an engine-off coasting function.
The net effect of all this engineering innovation? 0 to 62mph takes just 4.5 seconds, yet combined CO2 emissions are just 200g/km. The AMG Speedshift TCT 9G transmission and 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution ensures high levels of traction whatever the road conditions.

Practicality and Running Costs
Do not be fooled by the sloping roofline that comes with the coupé silhouette, the Mercedes-AMG CLS is surprisingly well-suited to smaller families because it has four large doors, plenty of space inside, and a big boot.
In fact, with 505 litres of space at your disposal, the CLS's boot is far bigger than most regular family vehicles, and thanks to the hatchback inspired tailgate, the opening is huge.

A widescreen (12.3-inch) high resolution cockpit display offers a choice of three display styles, while an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot, 3D satellite navigation mapping, smartphone integration and a Burmester sound system all come as standard. Luxurious touches include 64-colour interior ambient lighting, Keyless GO and memory seats, while you can also opt for a head-up display.
The long list of standard safety systems includes the Pre-Safe anticipatory safety system, Lane Keeping Assist, Active Brake Assist and the Active Bonnet pedestrian safety feature.

Is the Mercedes-AMG CLS right for me?
There is something fundamentally right about a performance coupé. They have the looks to turn heads, yet the performance will ensure you are grinning from ear to ear long after your journey has ended. If that appeals to you, then the Mercedes-AMG CLS is well worth your consideration.
